Petit Pleasures

March 2004 A Caribbean island resort lets you play Robinson Crusoe in comfort.

When Haze Richardson bought a 77-foot yacht with a friend in 1964, he had no intention of acquiring an island as well. But a leisurely, aimless journey aboard the Jacinta, a three-decade-old mahogany-and-oak schooner, brought Richardson to Petit St. Vincent, a 113-acre spot of land in the Grenadines that he purchased and ultimately transformed into one of the most celebrated private-island resorts in the Caribbean.

Island Paradise

February 2004 In your deepest dreams, there exists a place beyond compare— a tiny island paradise with luxurious cottages, fine food and drinks, soft sand beaches, and beautiful turquoise waters.

Far from the madding crowd, gentle Caribbean breezes sway your hammock on a perfect day— a secluded picnic, a private sailboat ride to a snorkeling spot among tropical fish, a barbecue on the beach with a few other lucky visitors, and then all of you dancing under the moonlight to the music of steel drums.
